Drug Uses
Retino-A Cream can be used for treating acne. It may also provide for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to use
Use Retino-A Cream as directed by your medical professional. Check the label about the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Retino-A Cream is for external only use.
Remove all cosmetics having a soap before applying Retino-A Cream. Gently dry the spot. Wait 20 to 30 minutes to be sure that the skin is entirely dry.
Apply a thin film of medication to the involved area. Rub in gently.
Wash the hands soon after using Retino-A Cream.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Retino-A Cream is really a vitamin A derivative. How it exerts its beneficial effects against acne is not fully known. Tretinoin appears to increase skin-cell turnover and lessen the tendency for skin cells to adhere together. This decreases the formation of acne and allows quicker healing of acne that does develop.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Retino-A Cream, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at the same time.
Storage
Store Retino-A Cream at room temperature, between 59 and 80 degrees F (15 and 26 degrees C). Store in the tightly closed container. Store from heat and lightweight. Keep Retino-A Cream out from the reach of kids and away from pets.
Possible Side Effects
All medicines may cause unwanted effects, but some everyone has no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if these most COMMON unwanted effects persist or become bothersome:
Redness, peeling, or feeling of warmth; sensitivity to sunlight; skin irritation; stinging at application site.
Seek medical help without delay if all of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergy symptoms (rash; hives; itching; lack of breath; tightness in the chest; swelling with the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe redness, swelling, blistering, or crusting with the skin.
