Drug Uses
Retin-A can often be employed to help the appearance and texture of the epidermis. It produces a gentle, superficial peel of the epidermis. Retin-A has effects on the both the superficial (epidermis) along with the deep (dermis) parts of your skin. The major benefit is always to decrease the effects of sunlight caused aging by increasing the speed that the surface cells are replaced.
How to use
Apply a thin layer to affected region once daily at bedtime. Use a gauze pad or cotton wool pad to apply the liquid. Wash the hands just after use. Using medicines more often or perhaps excessive amounts will not enhance the results, but may increase unwanted side effects. Avoid applying near the eyes, mouth, or open cuts since this medication can irritate sensitive skin. Acne can happen to worsen once the drugs are first used; continue therapy. It may take 3 to 6 weeks prior to the benefits on this medication are noticed. Use mild soap when washing your face. Do not wash face excessively. Abrasive soaps, cleansers, medicated creams or lotions can increase skin irritation. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about their use. Use other acne preparations with caution when using medicines.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Tretinoin is often a derivative of vitamin A. Topical Tretinoin is used inside the treatments for mild to moderate acne and so on skin that's been damaged by excessive sun damage. Tretinoin irritates your skin and results in the cells on the skin to cultivate (divide) and die faster, which is, it increases the turnover of cells. The number of layers of cells in the skin happens to be reduced. In patients with acne, new cells replace cellular structure of existing pimples, along with the rapid turnover of cells prevents new pimples from forming. By a similar mechanism, Tretinoin is effective in reducing some wrinkles, regions of darkened skin, and rough regions of skin, all of these occur in sun-damaged skin. In patients with sun-damaged skin, improvements in your skin layer usually are located from the first three to four weeks of treatment. Brown spots commence to fade after six to 8 weeks. Wrinkles decrease or disappear after three to six months. Following application to your skin, a minimal amount of drug is distributed around one's body.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, put it to use when remembered; do not use if it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose capture up.

Store at room temperature from sunlight. Keep this and many types of medications out of your reach of children.
Possible Side Effects
Due towards the chance for irritation, make sure you begin treatment on the small part of skin. Exposure towards the sun or ultraviolet rays causes additional irritation. During treatment, such exposure needs to be avoided whenever possible or a sun block ought to be used. During the first weeks of treatment there might be an apparent worsening from the problem. Serious unwanted side effects are not likely to occur. Stop using tretinoin topical and seek emergency medical assistance in case you experience a hypersensitive reaction (shortness of breath; closing of one's throat; swelling of your lips, face, or tongue; or hives).
You can experience some burning, warmth, stinging, tingling, itching, redness, swelling, dryness, peeling, or irritation when you are using tretinoin topical. If these side effects are excessive, speak to your doctor. You may need a lower dose or less frequent applications of tretinoin topical.

This medication can increase sensitivity to sunlight, wind and cold. Avoid prolonged sun damage and sunlamps. Wear protective clothing and use a powerful sunscreen. This medication should be used when pregnant as long as clearly needed. It is not known if Retin-A appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
