Propecia is used for treating some types of male pattern thinning hair (androgenic alopecia) in men. Propecia is a steroid reductase inhibitor. It works by reducing the level of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. This may block some kinds of hair loss in males.

STORAGE
Store Propecia at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store far from heat, moisture, and light-weight. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Propecia out from the reach of youngsters and faraway from pets.

Propecia could affect a blood test called PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) for your screening of cancer of the prostate. If you've a PSA test done, you must inform your doctor(s) that you will be taking Propecia. Because Propecia decreases PSA levels, alterations in PSA levels will need to be carefully evaluated from your doctor(s). Any increase in follow-up PSA levels from their lowest point should be carefully evaluated whether or not the test results are still from the normal range for guys failing to take Propecia.
