Duphalac is used to treat chronic constipation.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take medicines exactly as prescribed through your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts and for over recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Measure liquid medicine which has a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for starters.
The liquid type of lactulose may become slightly darken in color, but this is a harmless effect. However, avoid using the medicine whether or not this becomes very dark, or whether it gets thicker or thinner in texture.
Lactulose powder must be blended with no less than 4 ounces of water. You may also use veggie juice or milk to make the medication better.
It might take as much as 48 hours when you have a bowel movement after taking lactulose.
If you use lactulose over the long period of time, your physician may wish that you have occasional blood tests. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
If you missed a dose - take the missed dose whenever you remember. If it is almost time for your forthcoming dose, hold off until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to generate in the missed dose.

Avoid using antacids without a medical expert's advice. Use only the specific type of antacid your medical professional recommends. Antacids contain different medicines and a few types makes it harder for your body to absorb lactulose.
